Summary/Abstract: The present paper has in view the way of receiving Mircea Eliade’s work by the common readers. For this, I have used certain methods from cultural studies (sociology, cultural anthropology). The aim of the paper is to demonstrate that Mircea Eliade is seen not only as a writer and a scholar, but also as a cultural myth. The paper has selected several tops from the Internet, published on-line during the last year (from May 2006 - untill May 2007). Their comparison and interpretation revealed that, for many Romanian young readers, users of the Internet, Mircea Eliade represents a cultural myth.
