MUSICAL TASTES OF LOWER SILESIA POPULATION IN THE LIGHT OF A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of survey studies conducted in April and May 2008. The aim of the survey was not only to examine musical tastes of Lower Silesia popula¬tion, but also to postulate practical recommendations for planning the musical repertoire of concert halls in Wroclaw. The main reason for conducting the survey was the decision of Wroclaw municipality providing plans for the National Forum of Music offering ideal choices of music tailored to the tastes of the Lower Silesia residents. On practical level, the research was aimed to address the following questions: what should be done to populate concert halls in the region, how to draw more audience to musical venues and how to stimulate and moti¬vate local residents to participate in musical concerts.
