Summary/Abstract: This essay is concerned with the Queen figure and its presence in various forms in Irish culture. I will argue in favour of regarding the myth of the Queen as a manifestation of a certain cultural perspective and mental structure inherent to the Irish, perhaps to the whole culture rooted in the Celtic tradition. The Queen myth will thus be revealed as an instance of organising nature (non-human) into culture (human), a perspective based on the works of Claude-Lèvi Strauss.
