Summary/Abstract: Since intelligence helps to manage risk and uncertainty, provides forewarning and establishes conditions in which threats are eliminated or kept at a distance, the standard model of the relationship between intelligence analysis and decision-making needs to be permanently re-evaluated. This paper aims to move the tradecraft of intelligence analysis closer to a science, therefore, it has identified some guidelines that can lead toward creation of a solid intelligence infrastructure and laid out in a clear and concise language. It represents a distillation and clarification of the intelligence principles, their theory and application. As a discipline, intelligence seeks to remain an independent, objective advisor to the decision maker. Understanding each other’s views on intelligence is the first step toward improving the relationship between them.
