Summary/Abstract: Between the inhabited space and the mental space there is a close relationship and a strong mutual influence. Also, an authentic city is a palimpsest, preserving the traces of its history. Architecture, in its turn, is the consequence of a collective dream, of a utopia, of a phantasmagoria. With these elements as coordinates and some of the most famous cities of the world as terms of comparison, the author presents the two centuries’ old history of Teheran, and the various internal influences that have marked its development, after the second World War. Nevertheless, Teheran neither can be classified, nor has its own memory. It is, even more, a city that has its own demonologic pantheon.
