Summary/Abstract: Quoting Hans Olof Henkel – an enthusiastic supporter of globalization – who warns that the master of the new world is no longer the man but the market and who does not comply with its laws will be destroyed, Binder concludes her text on an optimistic note. Although the market has a strong influence on both the production of books (highlighting mercantilism, triviality and a so-called democratization of literature) and the readership’s taste, there are certain phenomena that suggest a neo-conservatory revolution aiming at a come-back of good taste in culture.
