Intercultural Education in Polish School

Summary/Abstract: In the article the author presents a social context, purposes and substances of intercultural education in Poland. Introducing to schools units of intercultural education became intense at the begining of 90's, especially the unit of processes of integration of Poland and European Union. Educating in multiculturality is still more the result of local educational initiatives than the nationwide programme of education. The initiatives are more and more often supported or even stimulated by institutions which promote the European integration and by the Department of Education. However, in substance of student books and in school practice the pur¬poses of intercultural education are realised in a very limited extent.
