Summary/Abstract: Relations between the formal corpus of school knowledge and the social system are analysed. The official knowledge transmitted in schools is not neutral. It results from political, economical and cultural activities and compromises. The most thorough representation of curricula are textbooks. Political and economical factors, as well as activity of pressure groups, have been exerting influence on the textbook content. The didactic, social and political functions of textbooks in teaching processes are characterized in this paper as well.
