Research on the Static Strength and Rigidity of the Bicycle Wheel

Summary/Abstract: This work analyses a very important part of a bicycle, its wheel. Strength and rigidity research is done using numerical solving methods. The main purpose of solving is elastic plastic stress distribution on the wheel and a maximum value of residual deflection. The condition volume of load were evaluated by the standard DIN 97100. The received results show whether wheel exploitation reliability is good ant whether its parameters meet the requirements of standards. The aim of the research: to prepare methods for bicycle wheel strength and rigidity research for designers; to make a FEM model wheel and to perform strength and rigidity numerical solving evaluating elastic plastic loading conditions.
