Financial support of the agribusiness competitiveness as part of rural development program

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is an attempt to make a comparative analysis of the existing investing policy in Polish agribusiness sector with a use of EU funds under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for the period 2007-2013 as well as EU support for the years 2014--2020 with a use of Rural Development Programme (RDP). The subject of comparisons were: the scope of the support in agribusiness focused on the growth of its competitiveness; the forms of the future financial support and the already provided one for the development of companies in the agribusiness sector. In order to fulfill the aim of the article the analysis of source documents of the European Parliament, the EU Council and the European Commission and the literature concerning the development of agribusiness and financial engineering instruments were done. As a result, the analysis found a convergence in financial support of agribusiness in both financial perspectives at the same time evolving the EU’s approach to the type of financial instrument offered to entrepreneurs. This evolution requires integrated information and institutional actions to fully exploit the financial allocation.
