Summary/Abstract: The ethnography, the history of religions, the psychology of the collective unconscious and other studies on the archaic imaginary have underlined the universality of the theriomorph symbols that display in totemism, in the various religious beliefs and in the people’s mythology. In our study, we have tried to emphasize the semantic polyvalency at the level of the symbolical object in the Romanian fairy tales and, particularly, the positive and negative developments of the theriomorph imaginary as its ambivalent expression.
