Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to research models of reducing variability in manufacturing process. By means of comparative analysis, SPC and EPC methods are brought together. Focus of SPC methodology is monitoring and identification of special causes of variability so they can be removed. In that way it is possible to permanently advance of the process or reduction of variability. EPC control (stochastic control or engineering control of the process) is based on coordinating the process based upon used information about present deviation level from anxious value. Returned coordinating regulates the process in way of variability sources which could not be eliminated with SPC methodology. Primary focus of SPC advancement quality strategy is on people, methods and procedures, while at EPC it is on the process. Use of the SPC will, in a specific way, enable discovering the specific causes of disturbance and only EPC/SPC combination can give the desired effect. This combination is offered by methodology of control with monitoring and returned coordinating. Results of the research should, in practical and theoretical examples, present how combination of described methods gives optimal result.
