Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to present the life insurance contract and its basic characteristics systematically and analytically. It is well-known that insurance is a sort of symbiosis of the legal and economical activities. In a life insurance contract, insurance contractor is obliged to pay the defined premium to the insurer, and insurer is obliged to underwrite the risk and to pay the insured sum to the beneficiary or to the insured person if the insured event occurs. The importance of the life insurance as business and the importance of the life insurance contract as the written form of the insurance business is in creating the feeling of security and financial support. Life insurance contract can be characterized as very complex.Besides the contract law sources, its characteristics, parties and its obligations, insurance break conditions, we have paid attention to the modern European regulations in life insurance contract law.
