A clash in the story. Memory in autofiction (J. Pilch, P. Huelle)

Summary/Abstract: Based on the examples of J. Pilch and P. Huelle I try to show how the author’s memory in autofiction is working to extract and textify those aspects of biography, which are mysterious, incomprehensible or “incomplete” in a bizarre fashion (they do not form an event). Autofiction is a way to treat these aspects of biography like an artist treats l’object trouvé. The fiction is in this procedure a special cognitive instrument; it gives a new chance to recognize and describe the universe of one’s own memory.
