Early Iron Age discoveries in the settlement from Suceveni–Stobarăni, Galati County

Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to present the findings of I.T. Dragomir and D. Nanu-Basarab from the Suceveni–Stoborăni habitat, dated to the Early Iron Age. The analyzed data show that there are two stages of inhabitation in this historical period: one that is represented by the Babadag culture pottery and the other represented by the presence of inhabitation with Basarabi-type decorated pottery. According to the chronological time frame proposed by S. Morintz, the finds from Suceveni–Stoborăni belong to the 2nd phase of Babadag culture, which is dated to the 10th-9th c. BC, followed by a phase that ascribed to the Basarabi phenomenon (8th c.- the beginning of the 7th c. B.C.) Rezumat: Scopul acestui articol este de a prezenta descoperirile atribuite primei epoci a fierului rezultate în urma cercetărilor din aşezarea de la Suceveni–Stoborăni, conduse de către I.T. Dragomir şi D. Nanu-Basarab. Datele analizate arată existenţa a două etape de locuire din această perioadă istorică, una reprezentată de ceramica culturii Babadag, în timp ce cea de a doua etapă este ilustrată prin prezenţa unei locuiri cu ceramică decorată în stil Basarabi. După cronologia propusă de S. Morintz, descoperirile de la Suceveni–Stoborăni corespund fazei a II-a a culturii Babadag, datată în sec. X-IX a.Chr, urmată de o etapă a locuirii ce corespunde fenomenului Basarabi (sec. VIII-începutul sec. VII a.Chr.).
