The Verb {zobaczyć} and Its Derivatives in the History of the Polish Language

Summary/Abstract: The paper is a historical study of the verb {zobaczyć} (to see) and of its derivatives since 17th century when it was first recorded until the present day regarding the development of the polysemy of the basic word. Attention has been drawn to the meaning of the verb obaczyć which motivated zobaczyć and their evolution in time. Another issue mentioned in the paper is the function of the prefixes which form the two verbs.
