Summary/Abstract: The text aims to point out new, still not discussed field of the recent history of the popular genre musical theater and to principally direct the research attention towards problematic which up to now has not been subject to specific critical representation. The research thesis about the burdened with ideologeme of socialist realism national repertoire strategy of the State Musical Theater subjects to modern critical analysis the created repertoire fund of Bulgarian titles for the stage in the period of totalitarian rule (1948-1989). The analysis aims to bring out the main characteristics of the normative theater aesthetic in the institutionally imposed genre standards and the interpretative figures-cliches in the popular stage plays by Bulgarian authors, in relation to the discourse about power and ideological censorship. Pointed out are also specific examples of diversion from the totalitarian paradigm, connected with the social-historical stages of its mimicry.
