Fairy-Tale - Fantasy Images and Technological Progress

Summary/Abstract: The text examines some versions of the famous adaptation of the novel The Wizard of Oz by Lyman Frank Baum. This is not the most filmed adaptation but is one of the stories the literary basis of which gave an initial direction of numerous emblematic fairy-tale-fantasy films. Besides the forming of the characteristic fairy-tale-fantasy vision with the help of technological methods, analyzed also are their transformation in different screen interpretations. Examples from feature films, animation, documentary films and games from different stages of the development of screen art assist in the development of the idea. The author examines the most recent examples where digital technology is used for the interpretation of the well-known images of The Wizard of Oz.
