Summary/Abstract: In the present text I will not examine the different symbolic images of the dragon from ancient times till the present but will study the difference between the screen image of the dragon as a mythical hero and his different (from technological and aesthetic point of view) screen transformations – as a realistic image, puppet, drawing, its different computer generated transformations in 2D and 3D animation. And why did I choose the image of the dragon in particular? Possibly I chose it because one can often see it on the screen. In almost every second-third fairy-tale-fantasy film in the group of the villains there is at least one bad dragon. And sometimes here and there a good dragon emerges… It has been used very often possibly because of its fantastic, unreal nature. Because it offers a freedom to directors to make it as they want to, to place it in any medium and to give him any qualities and skills. Or maybe it has been used because of its symbolic character.
