Summary/Abstract: The multicultural character of the great continents is obvious but Europe stands out by the variety and the diversity of the cultures which, however, remained distinct along the years of mutual influence. Different studies of the phenomenon of the minorities in Europe indicate the existence of more than 60 national, ethnical, linguistic and religious minorities. These sources indicate the existence of 45 national and regional in the EU countries. Multiculturalism and interculturalism in Europe involve on the one hand the preservation of the original minorities culture and on the other hand, the providing through adequate legislative measures of the integration of the youngsters with an European civic consciousness (civic socialization). The preparation for such a culture which is set up in the new democracies is unconceivable without putting into practice the intercultural education.
