Summary/Abstract: The author proposes the re-reading and re-evaluation of contemporary Serbian poetry. Starting from most recent, above all European works from literary theory, linguistics and aesthetics the author demonstrated the non-professionalism and lack of interest of official Serbian literary criticism in analysing and evaluating poetic works. This position of the literary criticism resulted in favouring minor, anachronous, populist and nationalist poets. That criticism and these poets are relics of a totalitarian past of which Serbia separates from with difficulty. The author illustrates this by analysing the poetry of D. J. Danilov as well as texts of "authorities" from the field of literary theory and criticism about this poetry.
