Alternative Solutions for Status of Kosovo and Metohija

Summary/Abstract: The question of the status of Kosovo and Metohija is one of the most complex and controversial problems not only for Serbia but for the whole region, European Union and the United Nations. In answering this question many views have been given and many different solutions proposed. The article briefly outlines the models of alternative solutions for Kosovo and Metohija's status that emerged in the last twenty years. The author puts forward the solution that entails the division of Kosovo and Metohija as a compromise and the least bad solution which can prevent the possible armed conflict and ensure the stability in the region. This solution understands the division of the entire territory of Kosovo and Metohija in two parts; a Serbian part north of the river Ibar and an Albanian part south of the Ibar. The paper represents a theoretical outline and proposal for discussion and not a developed and consistent concept.
