Problems of sustainable transport development in the context of international trade and investments

Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses chosen issues connected with challenges resulting from close relations between international trade, investments and transport, including more and more visible need of taking sustainable development requirements into account while planning and developing transport systems. Transportation is one of the most important determinants of international trade as well as investment attractiveness. However, it creates many problems threatening human’s life, environment and contributing to economic losses. Policies aimed at sustainable transport development are undertaken on different levels. They should also comprise activities connected with striving for intensification of benefits and increase in volume of international trade and investments.
