Summary/Abstract: From the numerous plastic representations meeting in the Bronze Age inventory, the miniatural clay axes did not benefit from a thorough discussion. For this reason, the author of this article presents some general coordinates about the origin of these pieces, their typology, decorative elements and possible interpretations of their functions. The miniatural clay axes appear in Chalcolithic, but their number is greater in the Bronze Age. Based on morphological elements were established six types, found in the settlements and the graves. Some clay axes were decorated with geometric motifs: circles, incisions, spirals, dotted lines, cross lines, but there are some pieces undecorated too. From the chronological and cultural point of view, most pieces are included in the Early Bronze Age, but some of them are there are in the Middle and Late Bronze Age cultures. Functions of these components has not been fully established. We can assume that this clay axes represent the imitations of some stone or metal pieces, amulets / pendants or symbols of deities. The assumption is that the author launched the ritual breaking of clay miniature axes in ceremonies.
