Summary/Abstract: The author highlights the role of the School of Beaux-Arts in Paris, an institution where in the period 1819-1884 a number 28 young Romanian students attended the academic courses. One of its students was the well known architect, historian and theorician G. M. Cantacuzino. The period of his studies in Paris (1919-1929) is reconstructed on the basis of the documentary funds of the prestigious institution and the valorisation of other sources together with the impact upon the personality and work of the Romanian architect. He was a student of Georges Gromont, who worked with Roger Henri Expert and Gustave Umbdenstock. The documents regarding G. M. Cantacuzino’s studies are published in the Annex of the paper.
