Summary/Abstract: The study represents the valorization of some new documents referring to the State-Church partnership in the social work during 1940-1945, as this partnership was materialized in central Transylvania, throughout the Orthodox Vicarage of Alba Iulia. The four chapters refer to: 1. the systematization of the partnership between Romanian Orthodox Church and the Patronage Council of Social Works, materialized in the development of a “collaboration plan” approved by the Holy Synod on October 12, 1943, meant to provide the foundations “for the development of a national Christian assistance in Romania”; 2. the cooperation between Church and “Temperanţa” League in order to fight alcoholism; 3. the management of war evacuees’ problem (1944); 4. the offertory initiated throughout the Vicarage, with special reference to the ones within the Deanery of Alba Iulia; some of these charities were the expression on a reduced scale of larger programmes conducted at national level while others represented spontaneous solidarity reactions, having the character of local campaigns: for soldiers on the front, for those injured or disabled, for refugees, etc.
