CHURCH SOCIAL ACTION. PRACTICAL POINTS

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to highlight several actions that the Church can undertake in the area of social work, in order to bring harmony to families with problems of adaptation. Emphasis will be placed on training the social worker involved in such actions, having as basis the Sacred Tradition and the Sacred Scripture. During this process of training, the understanding and the knowledge of the society, the communication and the language used as well as the harmony of the social worker’s family, are very important. It is possible that his/her involvement in solving the social problems of the community, will lead to the social worker’s absence from his/her family life, which may generate tensions. There is also the risk of high emotional involvement, where his/her family can collapse. It is also said that the social worker himself /herself need assistance. Those who wish to engage in such activities should be aware of the fact that their leisure time will be affected, because they will be needed at any times, whether it is morning or evening, warm or cold weather, windy or rainy. It is not easy to be a social worker and it is not mandatory; but if one still wants to engage in helping the others, then one should be committed to this during the entire process.
