Summary/Abstract: The context of foreign language acquisition, the order of acquisition, as well as language habits, do exert great influence on the way language is used by learners, both in speech and in writing. The present article was inspired by hypotheses on the specific nature of L2 speech and writing as well as the role which is played by the institutional context of acquisition in their development. The hypotheses included in the present paper were verified on the basis of the corpus of empirical data obtained from advanced Polish learners of French. The confirmation of the hypotheses enables the present author to put forward certain didactic implications related to teaching/learning speaking and writing in L2, which seem to be relevant for the conditions of language education in the school context.
