The analysis of economic results of investment activity in tourist sector. Case study of Podlasie Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyze the influence of the investment activity in tourist sector on the employment and entrepreneurship. The studies were carried out on the example of Podlaskie Voivodeship and the investment expenses co-funded by the EU means. The studies show that only building and extending tourist facilities generate new jobs. The leisure facilities seem to play the most important role of all public infrastructure. The relation between volume of investment expenses and the size of the entrepreneurship rate is presented. It also has to be added that high economic effects can only be achieved as a result of the activity of all industry sectors and the domination of the tourist sector expenses in the total investment expenses leads to the economic growth of the tourist sector.
