Summary/Abstract: Migrations of the retirees in both Western Europe and the USA have been perceived as the main factor of local and regional development. Migrating senior citizens create new jobs, thus, the aim of the article is to indicate the main migration areas, their tourist attractions and the impact the migration exerts on a local labour market in Poland, the area hardly researched. When it comes to the reasons of migration, 60-year-olds and older differ significantly from the young or middle-aged people. They choose, above all, areas where they can find a better standard of living and improve their health. Such factors as: marriage, education or employment are of marginal significance. By choosing the tourist and still virgin areas, in many cases, the retirees affect creating new jobs there. They also find jobs themselves there.
