CONSIDERATIONS ON CERTAIN TYPES OF PUBLIC EDIFICES INVESTIGATED AT CÂRLOMĂNEŞTI (BUZĂU COUNTY)

Summary/Abstract: The settlement from Cârlomăneşti should be view as a central place, taking into consideration the following characteristics: the area of the site; the thickness of the archaeological layers; the presence of the natural defensive elements strengthened by the anthropic works; the existence of certain buildings with a special character (sanctuaries, workshops…); the existence in the hinterland of some rural settlement seen as possible satellites-villages. The present material aims to disseminate part of the information obtained following the 1972 and 1973 excavations. These were located on the southeastern side of the Cetăţuia plateau. A series of structures belonging to three levels of occupation of the internal area of the settlement were uncovered. The analysis of the graphic and photographic documentation allowed for the identification of the remains of an edifice with alignments and two foundation bases, represented by two perimeters of slab-stones and river-boulders: a rectangular eccentrically inscribed in another one with and apse to the north.
