Summary/Abstract: The author comments, in the present article, a few of the less known writings of Radu Gyr—a prom-inent Romanian poet in the inter-war period—published in the communist propaganda journal Glasul Patriei (The Voice of the Motherland), between 1963/1972. These writings are totally differ-ent from his previous works; they comprise poems and reportages which, according to the realist-socialist literary canon, are praising the country’s transformation, the „new man”, the lyrical self: „The Eyes Are Rejoicing, The Heart Is Singing” – the title of the fi rst article in the abovementioned paper - synthesizes the new poetics of the „offi cial” creation, other than the hidden creation, „the drawer kept literature”, produced simultaneously—the modernist poetry of a tragic conscience, stigmatized, with a true esthetic value.
