Summary/Abstract: The study on The Nature of Radu Gyr’s Poetry is an outline of the relatively substantial poetic work of the author under discussion: seven booklets printed between 1924 and 1943, and four books published for the first time after 1989. The emphasis and consistency of the analysis focus on revealing the mobility and variety of the lyrical formulas, dialectics, and specific traits of the poetry within the two distinct stages of Radu Gyr’s creation. His creation grew from an interwar multivalent principle (intimate, traditionalist, regional-traditionalist poetry, landscape poetry, erotic poetry, children’s poetry, war, and far-right poetry, etc.) towards a form of poetry generated and irreversibly marked by the impact of history on Radu Gyr, a formula dominated by poetry of detention and existential meditation. This study also reflects on the relationship between tradition and modernity in poetry, the aesthetic solution, the subjects of the lyrical meditation, as well as the critical reception of Radu Gyr’s poetry.
