Why is Aristotle’s Theory of Democracy Similar to Plato’s?

Summary/Abstract: In this paper the author argues in favor of the claim that the similarity between Plato and Aristotle’s theories of democracy is greater than it is commonly assumed. She will attempt to show that there is a striking resemblance in the treatment of democracy in the Republic and the Nichomachean Ethics, and the Laws and the Politics respectively. The former pair describes democracy as a deficient form of governing, while the latter two discuss democracy in less critical manner taking into account the real historical circumstances.
