Summary/Abstract: Evaluation is the event of the educational process that closes the circle of teaching and learning and it is the moment of inverse connection. The paper presents theoretical aspects of ESP and English as a curricular subject, a brief synthesis of several aspects connected to the evaluation and assessment of English in general and English for Specific Purposes. It deals with aspects such as types of tests, reason for testing and some of the most used evaluation scales.
