Summary/Abstract: The article shows author’s thoughts about the results of one discussion initiated by journal “World Literature” and devoted to the role of intelligent-sia in the époque of terrorism. The “moral confusion” of the cultural elite representatives as an answer to the challenges of terror is shown. A number of problems in the activity of Russian intelligentsia at the contemporary level of development is revealed in the article
