Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt to foreground the role of translated literature in transmitting culture within a country and in transferring it internationally. Using Even-Zohar’s polysystem theory as a framework – as a specific application to the study of translated literature – we want to show the position of translated literature within the literary polysystem, and the way translated texts function collectively, as a sub-system within the target literary system.
