Summary/Abstract: Professional translators often add footnotes to solve their translation problems. The present paper approaches this translation strategy that deals with the particularities of the footnote entries. It offers background information about the translation strategy under analysis and it also develops the issue of the position of the translator between the author and the reader of the translated text.
