Summary/Abstract: The most recent Polish parliamentary elections took place on September 25, 2005. When one ponders on its record-breaking poor turnout (ca. 38,3%) one is thinking about the causes of such a situation which took place in an allegedly free and democratic country. The author of the paper makes an attempt at answering the question analyzing media slogans used immediately after the elections. The research methodology derives from philosophically-oriented text-linguistics and the rhetorically-oriented communicational grammar of discourses (for the entire discussion see, for example, Cap 2003, Chruszczewski 2002, 2003).
