Summary/Abstract: In 2003 the Romanian political life was dominated by electoral debates and events – the idea of anticipate elections, the referendum for the Romanian Constitution, the debate on electoral calendar and legislation. 2004 will be an electoral year and in the same time a test of the maturity level of the main political actors. The electoral priorities especially those of the Social Democrat Party will have to be reconciled with the economic agenda and the musts of European integration. The article highlights the electoral, doctrinal and legislative imperfections of this pending electoral year and concludes that holding more than one electoral confrontation in the same year – as happening in Romania – will transform the participative citizen into a quiet audience.
