Summary/Abstract: The Faculty of Political Sciences and International Affairs of the Mathias Bel University in the city of Banská Bystrica, thanks to provided grant from the International Visegrad Fund and under the aegis of Mr. Eduard Kukan, minister of foreign affairs of the Slovak Republic, realised within its own international activities the international scientific conference entitled “Geopolitical importance of Central Europe (V4) and its prospects” held in the city of Banská Bystrica in September, 11-13th 2002. Significant representatives of the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Slovak Republic, top management from Slovakia, foreign scientific centres and also scientific and pedagogical professionals of the universities from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, the Ukraine, Austria and Slovakia presented their contributions on this conference. Their contributions create the content of the conference scientific script in English language edited by doc. PhDr. František Briška, CSc. and doc. RNDr. PhDr. Zoltán Pástor, CSc. in extent of 283 pages. The scientific script was published as the fifth volume within the edition of scientific publications of the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Affairs of Mathias Bel University what we can consider as a significant proof of its international activities.
