Summary/Abstract: The accentuation of the verb suffix -uoti is not well-established yet. In most cases the suffix of such verbs is being stressed. The old cases of root and dual (root and suffix) stress are common in group of polysyllabic variants of the suffix -uoti. The regular circumflex metatony is characteristic for root stressed verbs and it appears because of semantic factors in derivatives. In 2005 the State Commission on the Lithuanian Language reconsidered accentuation norms of some -uoti verbs extending possibilities of suffix stress even further. In group of such verbs (which implicate the main suffix -uoti and which also have polysyllabic suffixes) the suffix -uoti tends to become a suffix having the status of dominant stressed suffixes.
