Summary/Abstract: In this article we follow the biographical data about St. Olympias, given in the historical documents, especially on the basis of the anonymous Life of St. Olympias and St. John Chrysostome’s Letters to Olympias. The latter text is analysed in greater detail, because the problem most often discussed in these Letters is human suffering, a theme of great interest of present day people, too.
