Summary/Abstract: Fantastic, epic, tragic, these are the words that are common in the pen of critics, when they have to speak now of the novels of Ismaïl Kadaré, not without sometimes falling – almost at least - into confusion. It must be said, too, that the author likes to mix or alternate genres. The novel “Les tambours de la pluie” seems to offer, in this respect, an example of choice, insofar as it expressly shows epic as well as tragic elements ... while flirting with the fantastic in a way that should be identified as characteristic, in particular, for the late works of the novelist.
