Summary/Abstract: Starting from various definitions of adaptation as a method of translation, the paper aims to discuss the ambiguity of circumscribing the limits of this concept with a view to establishing the criteria which must be taken into account for a more exact definition of adaptation. We will also focus on the difficulties of such an attempt in the context of a superimposition of the various criteria.
