Summary/Abstract: This study attempts to discuss some dialectal characteristics of Ion Creangă’s writings, which have not considered by critics yet. Most of these aspects relate to the phonetic domain, i.e. the “palatalisation” of labials (such as, in: chilit, chilos, (să) chirotească, chiuă, pochii, (la) ghilit, (a) hi, and probably, in: ghiţoasă et givorniţă) and dentals (such as, in: ghiavole, ghibăcia, (să) ghibăceşti etc.). The reduced number of regional linguistic elements shows once more that Ion Creangă has to be seen as more than a mere “regional” writer.
