Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the theological „motives“ in the thinking of Carl Schmitt, which are subject to controversial interpretations. It considers in its contradictions of content, transformations and correlations Schmitt’s central concept of representation, by which he explicitly refers to the dogmatic and juridical – political tradition of the Catholic Church. By attracting the critical reception of this concept are being highlighted the tension, in which it stays towards the Christian eschatology, and its dangerous proximity to a strategy of secularizing of Christianity in a religion of domination. Otherwise it is being insisted that the thinker from Plettenberg productively adapts authentic understandings and attitudes of Catholic Christianity in the Age of Modernity.
