Summary/Abstract: This short essay introduces the publication of A. Freijs' study "Rainis' attitude towards the question of religion". The author emphasizes that the "Religious philosophical writings" should challenge the totalitarianism in thinking and should promote discussions on the issues in our religious and, in a wider sense, in cultural life on the whole. In this discussion there is a special place for A. Freijs' analysis of Rainis' religious quest. In the author's opinion, it appears very contemporary and can serve as a fine example of the phenomenon, as called by religion scholars, new religiosity, characteristics of which are intimacy and innerness.
