Summary/Abstract: Textemes of reasoning are numerous in works of fiction where characters are given much attention in terms of their psychological characteristics, description of conscious and unconscious mental processes defining characters' behaviour and their mode of life. One of the means rendering such kind of information is a character's inner monologue. The article deals with peculiarities of an inner monologue integration into the text of fiction. The illustrative material for analysis was taken from a novel 'War and Peace' by L.Tolstoy. Having analysed the episodes, the author of the article drew the following conclusions. One and the same micro theme passes from the author's narration to an inner monologue repeating already mentioned ideas or throwing the new light on them. At the shifting point from narration to an inner monologue the explanatory relations occur between sentences. Meanwhile shifting from an inner monologue to the author's narration is usually marked by a new texteme which is expressed graphically, semantically and structurally.
