Summary/Abstract: Antun Mandić, the bishop of Đakovo and a prominent Slavonian cultural person from the seeond part of the 18th century, his "Uputjenje k'slavonskomu Pravopisanju za Potrebu narodnieh Ucsionicah u Kraljestvu Slavonie" in Buda in 1779. Seventeen years later, in 1796, Josip Stipan Relković, a bishop of Đakovo and Srijem, published in the spirit of Enlightment "Kuchnik", where he advised "Kuchniku koji Oblajt ima fverhu Ukuchanah fvojih, koi za fva Dilla i Poslove njiove mora znati". This paper tries to answer the following question: did and in what degree Mandić's "Uputjenje" influence the writing and spelling of Relković's "Kuchnik".
